  • Each ml contains 100 mg of oxytetracycline hydrochloride.

A stable, sterile solution of Terramycin® 100 Injectable Solution for subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous injection in animals.

  • For the treatment of heartwater, tick-borne gallsickness (anaplasmosis), pneumonia, footrot, joint ill, navel ill in livestock, and strangles in horses.

  • Do not use in dogs.

Do not slaughter animals for human consumption within seven days of last treatment.

Milk from treated cows must not be used for human consumption within 48 hours of last treatment.

Although this product has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

  • Recommended daily dosage for all indications in the relevant species by subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous routes: 1 ml/10 kg body mass.

In the case of intramuscular injections:

Administer injections intramuscularly in the heavily muscled regions of the neck.

Administer injections in a minimum of two locations to limit the volume injected per site.

Do not administer more than 20 ml in any one site.

Note: Repetition of dosages: Treatment of anaplasmosis and heartwater should be repeated daily as required.

In all other conditions treatment should be continued daily for 3 to 4 days.

When the intravenous route is used, the injection should be given very slowly into the selected vein and at the first signs of discomfort or restlessness on the part of the patient it should be halted momentarily. Use a thin needle.

Intravenous daily doses should be divided, i.e. one half of the daily dose should be injected at 12-hourly intervals.

With intramuscular injections some transient discomfort may follow, but this may be minimised by massage at the injection site to disperse the fluid. In horses it is preferable to use the subcutaneous or intravenous routes since, if irritation should follow an intramuscular injection, the animal may be difficult to approach a second time.

When the administration is subcutaneous, it is desirable to disperse the fluid by gentle massage at the injection site.

NB: For rapid recovery, a prompt and accurate diagnosis must be made. Professional examination is necessary for correct diagnosis. It is, therefore, always advisable to consult your veterinarian.

  • Store below 30 °C. The preparation may darken during use, but the potency of the Terramycin® 100 Injectable Solution remains unaffected.
