    1. Not for use in humans
    2. Do not use this device more than once.
    3. Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and pets.
    4. Animals in poor condition from illness, nutritional or management stress may not respond.
    5. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.
  • Not suitable for use in animals with abnormal vaginas.

Wear rubber gloves when handling the devices.

  • Use only as directed.

    Insertion:

    1. Dip the applicator in a non-irritant antiseptic solution.
    2. Place one CIDR® B device into the applicator so that the short legs are folded and only the tips of these legs protrude from the front of the applicator.
    3. Dip the front portion of the loaded applicator into a suitable veterinary obstetrical lubricant.
    4. Lift the tail of the animal and wipe the vulva lips clean with disposable tissue.
    5. With the tail lifted, insert the loaded applicator, sloping slightly upwards, through the vulva and then forward, without forcing, into the anterior vagina.
    6. Release the removal cord, press the handle of the plunger and ease back the barrel of the applicator towards the handle.
    7. With the CIDR® B correctly placed with the front legs of the device opened in the anterior portion of the vagina, only the removal cord should be hanging from the vulva.
    8. Repeat step 1 before re-using the applicator.

    Removal:

    1. Withdraw each CIDR® B device by pulling on the removal cord.
    2. Bury or burn the device.
    3. Always remove the device at least 24 hours before slaughter.

    Dosage and administration:

For synchronisation of oestrus: The CIDR® B may be used in one of the following regimes:

    a. Insert for 7 to 12 days with injection of prostaglandin at removal of device.

    b. Insert for 15 days with no concurrent treatment at device insertion or removal. In the above regimes, animals are in oestrus for mating or insemination at 48 to 96 hours after device removal. A “heat mounter detector” or tail paint for detecting oestrus is recommended.

    For post-partum anoestrum treatment:

When lack of ovarian activity is diagnosed, insert the CIDR® B for 7 days and inject 400 IU of PMSG at device removal. Responsive animals will be detected in oestrus during the next 7 days. Re-examine and then re-treat unresponsive animals. For post-insemination treatment: The CIDR® B is inserted 14 to 17 days after first insemination and removed on the 21st day, post insemination. Animals not pregnant after the first service are in oestrus approximately 48 to 96 hours after device withdrawal.

  • Store in a cool place below 25 °C.
